A Look at the 2012 MLB Season

by @ . Filed under Uncategorized

It has been just over a month since the Cardinals won the 2011 World Series and I, along with a lot of folks, already miss baseball very much! Now that the official MLB schedule is up, that means 2012 MLB game tickets are now available for sale! I can’t wait to get back to the stadium to watch my favorite players take the field, and I’m sure that’s the truth for a lot of us baseball fans. Take a look at the most popular series for the 2012 season so far:

>> Yankees @ Red Sox: April 20 – 22

>> Cubs @ Cardinals: April 13 – 15

>> Cardinals @ Marlins: April 4

>> Rays @ Red Sox: April 13 – 16

>> MLB Exhibition Yankees @ Marlins: April 1 – 2

>> White Sox @ Yankees: June 28 – July 1

These are just a few series that are sure to sell well, but a lot will be changing as the off-season progresses. Trades will be made and rosters will not be the same. Managers will leave and Minor leaguers will break through to the Majors. That’s the beauty of baseball and it can’t come soon enough!

170-200

by @ . Filed under 2011 Tigers
I hope I did my math right, but the number in the title has some significance.  The Tigers sit at 45-41 right now and with six games left in the first half, they need just one win to finish going into the break with at least a .500 record.  Since Jim Leyland took over the [...]

What is an Ace?

by @ . Filed under 2011 Tigers
The term “ace” is thrown around way too much these days.  Of course this is my opinion but I don’t think an ace is a team’s number one pitcher.  While guys Luke Hochevar and Wandy Rodriguez are probably their team’s best pitchers and are good in their own right, I don’t consider them aces.  Aces [...]

Astros At the Bottom

by @ . Filed under 2011 Astros
It’s hard to even remember the Astros were in the World Series back in 2005.  Now they’re the worst team in baseball.  Sometimes it doesn’t take long to fall.  Throw in the ownership issues and this has been a rough year for Astros fans.  Right now they’re right around on pace to be the lone [...]

A’s Falling Fast

by @ . Filed under 2011 Athletics
It wasn’t the best month for the A’s.  Early on they were playing .500 ball and were at least close to first.  Now they’re in last place and they’re four losses back of even reaching the Mariners who sit in third. Even worse, they dropped two of three to a pretty mediocre Marlins team. Scoring [...]

Mariners Continue to Hang Around

by @ . Filed under 2011 Mariners
The Mariners are two games below .500 but in the AL West, .500 is good enough to stay in the mix.  They’re still in third place, but they’re just three and a half games back of the Rangers and two and a half back of the Angels.  One good series against a division opponent could [...]

Jays Losing Ground

by @ . Filed under Uncategorized
It’s tough being in the best division in baseball.  The Jays would probably be competitive in just about every other division but they find themselves 9 1/2 games back of first place in the AL East.  They’re 13-18 against the East too so that doesn’t help.  Having to play over a third of your games [...]

Sudden Slide

by @ . Filed under 2011 Royals
The Royals are falling fast.  After a solid April they now find themselves in dead last.  Not only that, they have the worst record in the American League.  On April 19, they were 11-6. Since then they’ve gone 22-42.  That’s not good. Yesterday’s game was another road loss.  The Padres aren’t a good team but [...]

Well, here we are.  The ballots are in and now we have to wait until Saturday to find out who your 2011 All Star Game starters are.  We’ll still have the final poll player to deal with as well. All I know is I’d love to have All Star Game Tickets this year.  Would mind [...]

Rangers Cling to First Place

by @ . Filed under 2011 Rangers
The Rangers had a nice lead but they’ve been playing .500 ball the past couple of weeks and the Angels have caught fire.  They did take two of three against Houston and playing them a couple of series these days is nice.  It’s also nice to have the interleague games going because that’s always an [...]

Brewer Finish Month Tied for First

by @ . Filed under 2011 Brewers
The Brewers had a three game lead but a three game losing streak then three straight wins by the Cardinals cost them their lead.  Of course those pesky Yankees were to blame and the Brewers were knocked around in two games and even the middle game which was closer wasn’t all that great.  It is [...]

The Atlanta Braves(45-35 as of June 28th) continue to play solid ball overall in 2011 and are about to receive a big shot in the arm- literally and figuratively- with the return RHSP Tommy Hanson(8-4,2.48, 89 strike outs in 83.1 innings)  Tuesday(June 28th)  at the Seattle Mariners.  Hanson experienced inflammation of the  rotator cuff in [...]

Indians Sticking Around

by @ . Filed under 2011 Indians
We’re close to the half way point in the season and while the Indians have had almost as bad of a run as they did a good run earlier in the season, they’re still hanging in there and they’re a game back of the first place Tigers.  They won their opener against the Diamondbacks 5-4 [...]

Awesome June

by @ . Filed under 1961 Yankees
After a couple of mediocre months, the Yankees broke out in June and finished with a 22-10 record.  It wasn’t their best month of the season, but it was the month that kept them in the mix.  They still had taken over first place but they sat just two games back of the first place [...]

Tigers unload for 7 in 8th; win 8-3 over Dbacks

by @ . Filed under 2011 Diamondbacks
DETROIT — The finale of the rubber match between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the home team, Detroit Tigers, seemed as if it would be a close, tight game.  And it was, until Detroit unloaded for seven-runs in the eighth to win 8-3. Arizona starter, Joe Saunders was in complete control of this game, allowing four-hits [...]

Gonzalez, Ramirez, and Pena each go deep twice

by @ . Filed under 2011 Rockies
CHICAGO — Maybe it was the travel to Chicago to make-up a postponed game that resulted in a Colorado Rockies loss to the Cubs.  Or maybe the offense many thought the Cubs had prior to Opening Day finally showed up. Nonetheless Chicago’s offensive threats, Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Pena each went deep twice as they [...]

We’re closing in on the half way point of the season and the Pirates are not only a game above .500, but they’re also just four games back of the first place Brewers and one game back of the second place Cardinals.  Those are some good teams and so far, the Pirates have played with [...]

Red Sox In the Middle of Three Team Race

by @ . Filed under 2011 Red Sox
The Red Sox are hanging in there but things are really interesting.  You’ve got the Yankees and Rays in a tight race where if you throw any of those three teams in a different division with their record, they’d be on top.  As it stands, the Red Sox sit in second place, but they’re just [...]
