Diamondbacks 2007 Preview

by @ Thursday, March 1st, 2007. Filed under 2007 Diamondbacks

Beyond the Boxscore recently took a look at the Diamondback’s chances in 2007.  It’s a nice writeup and a more sabermetric analysis of the team.  I really like the additions to the rotation in Randy Johnson and Doug Davis but like Jeff Sackman states, the Dodgers and Padres may be a little too good.  At […]

Diamondbacks Bullpen Situation

by @ Friday, February 23rd, 2007. Filed under 2007 Diamondbacks

Jeff Sackman at the Hardball Times recently penned a great column about bullpens that are in a flux and topping the list are the Arizona Diamondbacks.  You’ve got three guys in Jose Valvarde, Tony Pena and Jorge Julio who could all see time as the Dbacks closer in 2007.  It’s a great read so be […]

Max Scherzer Looks like Stephen Drew All Over Again

by @ Saturday, February 17th, 2007. Filed under 2007 Diamondbacks

It doesn’t look like the Diamondbacks will be signing first round draft pick Max Scherzer anytime too soon.  The Diamondbacks apparantly have an offer on the table but Scherzer’s agent, Scott Boras, is looking for something similar to what the top pick, Luke Hochevar, got when he signed with the Royals.
Of course the Diamondbacks are […]

Top Ten Diamondback Prospects

by @ Tuesday, February 13th, 2007. Filed under 2007 Diamondbacks

Baseball America recently unveiled their top ten Diamondback prospects and man is there some talent in this system.  2005 first round pick Justin Upton comes in at number one after a solid season at Low A. He’ll move up to High A in 2007 and it wouldn’t surprise me if he got bumped up to […]

Diamondbacks Preseason Preview

by @ Thursday, February 8th, 2007. Filed under 2007 Diamondbacks

It’s nice seeing the words “Diamondbacks” and “playoffs” in the same column.  Aaron Gleeman recently wrote up a preseason preview for the Diamondbacks at NBCsports.com and you have to like the good news that thet Diamondbacks have a young team that’s stocked with talent.  In fact Eric Byrnes appears to be the senior statesman in […]

Diamondbacks Sign Eric Byrnes to One Year Deal

by @ Tuesday, February 6th, 2007. Filed under 2007 Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks locked up their last arbitration eligible player and they won’t have to go to the arbitration table.  The last holdout was Eric Byrnes, and the Diamondbacks signed the outfielder to a one year, $4.575 million deal today.  Byrnes was very good in 2006 when he hit 26 homeruns and stole 25 bases.  The […]

Carlos Gonzalez Lights Up Winter League

by @ Wednesday, January 31st, 2007. Filed under 2007 Diamondbacks

Diamondback’s outfield prospect Carlos Gonzalez struggled when he got promoted to Double A in 2006 but if he lost anything because of it, he probably made it all back up here with a solid performance in the Venezuela Winter League.  Gonzalez hit .318 and he led the league with a .530 slugging.  It’ll be fun […]
