by @ Tuesday, March 18th, 2008. Filed under 2008 Blue Jays

With Toronto set-up man Casey Janssen being shelved for the rest of the season the Jays needed to fill a spot and did just that by picking up left-handed pictcher Bill Murphy, previously with the Arizona Diamondbacks. To make room for Murphy they put Janssen on the 60-day DL and plan to keep him there […]

It looks like the Blue Jays have signed veteran right-handed pitcher Armando Benitez to a minor league deal. It seems to be a move to create more depth available in the bullpen, hopefully he proves effective.

The Blue Jays got a very impressive win on Sunday against the Phillies putting together 15 hits and a 6 run 2nd inning. Young gun Jesse Litsch was given the start for Toronto and had a very good showing going 4 innings deep giving up only 2 hits, 1 run and striking out 6. […]

B.J. Ryan Should Be Ready By Opening Day

by @ Sunday, February 10th, 2008. Filed under 2008 Blue Jays

The Blue Jays are optimistic that closer B.J. Ryan should be ready for opening day after Tommy John surgery in 2007.  There’s no doubt that having a healthy Ryan and Brandon League in the pen will go a long way towards the Blue Jays having a chance of keeping up with the Yankees and Red […]

Addition By Subtraction??

by @ Friday, February 1st, 2008. Filed under 2008 Blue Jays

With the Glaus/Rolen trade now fully disected by both national and local media, thought I would take some time to look into it even further.  On paper it would seem that both the Jays and Cards got even money in their swap of third-sackers.  This perspective, of course, is subjective at best.  When one takes […]

Jays Trade Graham Godfrey and Kristian Bell for Marco Scutaro

by @ Sunday, November 18th, 2007. Filed under 2008 Blue Jays

J.P. Ricciardi got his man.  The Jays pulled the trigger on their first move of the Hot Stove season and they traded Graham Godfrey and Kristian Bell to the Athletics for Marco Scutaro.  The nice thing is that Scutaro can play just about anywhere and he’ll draw a walk without striking out much.  He did […]
